Worship is at the heart of St. Stephen’s. We are firmly rooted in the Lutheran tradition and adhere to the precepts of the ELCA. St. Stephen’s is a Reconciling in Christ congregation and welcomes anyone and everyone to worship with us.
Program Year Sunday Worship Times
We worship together as the Body of Christ in two communion services every Sunday morning, at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., with educational and fellowship opportunities for all ages at 9:40 a.m.
September-May:
8:30 AM: Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary with Communion
10:30 AM: Contemporary Worship in the Sanctuary with Communion

Tuesday Staff Devotions
Our staff gathers every Tuesday morning at 9:30 for devotions and prayer. Anyone wishing to join us is welcome in the Sanctuary.
Thursday Ecumenical Morning Prayer
Thursday mornings at 8:00, join a small ecumenical gathering drawn from members and clergy of St. Stephen’s, Monona United Methodist, First Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist, and others, for Morning Prayer (Matins). Fellowship and treats follow the service.

Lenten Worship
St. Stephen’s traditionally gathers for Lenten worship on the Wednesday evenings during Lent. Midweek Lenten services using Holden Evening Prayer by Marty Haugen begin at 6:30 pm. Soup suppers begin at 5:45 in the Agape Room.

Easter Sunrise Worship
Our Easter sunrise service begins outdoors just prior to dawn on Easter morning. Weather permitting, the service continues to unfold outdoors as the sun rises, with scripture, song, meal, and prayer.
