Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church is located at 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd., Monona, WI 53716. A map link is provided in the footer of this page.

What are your Church hours?

Our Main Office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am until 2:00 pm. On Sundays, the building is open approximately 30 minutes before and after scheduled worship services, although the main office is closed.

Can I rent a space in your building for my event ?

In keeping with our mission, we do not rent our building for profit for any reason. We do, however, allow many individuals and groups to use our facilities for a variety of events, including parties, concerts, meetings, and more. Modest fees to offset energy use, facility care, equipment requirements, or staffing may apply. Contact the office to make arrangements.

Where should I park?

Our facility has parking available near each of the main entrances, with the largest parking lot located at the rear of the church building.

Can I access the building with a wheelchair, walker, or motorized scooter?

Yes, although not every part of the building is accessible from every entrance without encountering a stairway. To access the Fireside Room level, please use the main entry located just off of the main parking lot at the rear of the church. For most other areas, including the Sanctuary, Fellowship Areas, and Main Office, there are ramped entrances located on the south side of the building and the front of the building. The Food Pantry direct entrance is accessible without a ramp. There is designated accessible parking located near all entrances.

Which entrance should I use?

Our building has three main entrances that grant access to the entire building, as well as direct entrances for the Food Pantry, Agape Room (fellowship hall), and the kitchen. During Office Hours, the building can be accessed via the front Office entrance; Food Pantry clients should use the direct Food Pantry entrance located off the courtyard near the main parking area at the rear of the building. On Sunday mornings and during special events, the three main entrances to the building are unlocked. Need to access the building with a mobility device? Click here for information on accessible entrances.

Can you help me with housing, bills, gas, or rent?

Our congregation’s discretionary resources generally go to support our Food Pantry and other global or local missions, so typically we are unable to provide this kind of financial assistance. We encourage you to make an appointment with the Food Pantry to receive food assistance.

Where is the Food Pantry?

St. Stephen’s Food Pantry is located inside and to the rear of the church facility at 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd., Monona, WI 53716. It has its own direct entrance, which can be accessed through the courtyard just off of the main (rear) parking lot.

When is the Food Pantry open?

The Food Pantry is open for clients to shop Monday through Thursday from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm, by appointment. (Although we can occasionally accommodate walk-ins, we cannot guarantee our ability to assist clients without appointments.)

How do I make an appointment with the Food Pantry?

The Food Pantry takes appointments by phone call to their direct line (608.441.1123) Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am until 10:00. The Food Pantry stops accepting phone calls at 10:00 OR when all appointments for the day have been filled; if you do not receive an answer, please call again the next business day. We regret that food pantry appointments cannot be taken by the church office.

How often can I visit the Food Pantry?

Clients can shop at the Food Pantry once every 14 days.

How do I donate to the Food Pantry?

Donations of non-perishable food, garden or farm produce, small household items, gently used children’s toys, and clothing or shoes in good repair can generally be made to the Food Pantry whenever the building is open; however, arrangements should be made in advance for anything requiring refrigeration, or for donations of more than a few small bags of items. Due to space limitations or safety and liability concerns, the Food Pantry DOES NOT accept the following:

  • Mattresses or upholstered furniture
  • Cribs, children’s car seats, and strollers
  • Homemade food items, include baked or canned goods
  • Large furniture items (sofas, couches, shelving units)
